## Brand Usage Restrictions

The following restrictions apply when using West Virginia University brand assets:

- Never stretch, skew, or rotate the Flying WV or the University logotype. Proportions must remain locked.
- Academic units, departments, and student organizations are prohibited from creating their own unique logos. They must use official "lockups" provided by University Relations.
- Drop shadows, outlines, glows, or gradients are strictly forbidden.
- The Flying WV cannot have text or other graphics placed on top of it.
- Do not fill the Flying WV with patterns, photos, or non-brand "fashion" colors.
- Keep a minimum amount of "clear space" around the logo (equal to the width of the capital "W") where no other text or graphics may enter.
- Never use "University of West Virginia," "UWV," "Western Virginia University," or "University of Western Virginia."
- Do not refer to the university or fans as "Eers," "Neers," or "Mounties."
- Marks may never be used in conjunction with references to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling, or firearms.
